Lan Su Chinese Garden

Lan Su Chinese Garden celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The 37-acre park attracts about 120,000 visitors each year. (Photo by Matthew Ginn © 2010)

The main event for Saturday was a trip to the Lan Su Chinese Garden, a gem within the otherwise forgettable four-block stretch that passes for Chinatown in Portland.

In addition to our self-guided tour, we enjoyed a Chinese yo-yo demonstration and lesson. We also had tea in the Tower of Cosmic Reflections, some of which was served in comically small cups.

After leaving the garden, we stumbled across one of the giant acupuncture needles that perforate the city.
